Outpatient and Family Housing

Craig Hospital has a wide variety of programs specifically designed to support families, including housing for outpatients and families of inpatients, either in our on-site family housing facility or in a nearby hotel.  Our first priority for the on-site housing suites is given to our outpatients returning for re-evaluation.  For families of newly injured rehabilitation inpatients, we offer up to thirty days at no charge, and attempt to accommodate families in our on-site units as quickly as possible.  After thirty days, arrangements may be made for an extension with subsidized nightly fees, based on room availability and the patient’s treatment program.

Our 60,000 square ft. Outpatient and Family Housing facility has 47 attractive wheelchair accessible units, a hospitality center called the “Digby Friendship Center” with adjoining outdoor barbeque area, and a conference meeting room.  The apartments are either one or two bedroom units, equipped with kitchenettes, roll-in showers, hide-a-beds, and are spacious for the wheelchairs.  For the comfort of our guests and for safety, there is a strict “no smoking” policy in the Family Housing facility and violators will be evicted.  In the event that our units are full, Craig Hospital has special arrangements with several nearby hotels for discounted accommodations.  For more specific information about nearby accommodations, please go to:

Our family housing program allows families to be actively involved in the rehabilitation process.  We encourage and provide real-life living arrangements in preparation for going home.  When a patient is moved to the private rooms on the 3-East or 2-East Units, family members are expected to move out of the family housing apartments and in with the patients.  These “hospital” rooms are arranged as suites to allow family members to live together with their loved one prior to discharge.  This allows family to gain an overall perspective of the “whole picture” of care and to be present for continuous education and training.  For more information about Family Housing, please contact Guest Services at (303) 789-8360 or
