In 2010, Craig Hospital received a grant from the U.S. Olympic Committee to create and disseminate a Colorado statewide sport directory of resources for veterans and civilians with traumatic brain injury (TBI). As a part of the grant a Needs Assessment was conducted to gather information on state-wide programs and organizations that provide specialized programming for individuals with a traumatic brain injury. The “Colorado Directory of Sports and Recreation Opportunities for Military, Veterans and Civilians with Traumatic Brain Injury” was completed in September, 2010.
The directory is a state-wide list of public and private organizations who offer sport programs and services for persons with brain injury, with search functions by sport, public/private, and location. There is also an introductory section on the nature of traumatic brain injury.
The directory was initially created by Corey Fairbanks, Nick Bonner, and Max Fenske in January, 2011. Since then, the directory has and will continue to be revised by Stephanie Deml in the Therapeutic Recreation Dept. We apologize if we have omitted any sport programs, and encourage organizations to inform us of their programs. Inclusion in the directory does not constitute or imply endorsement, recommendation, or favoring by Craig Hospital.
