Harry Gregory ("Greg") Austin
Mr. Austin is a commissioner and President of the Denver Water Board. He practiced law for over 40 years with Holland & Hart LLP, a Denver-based law firm. In 1973, he received a Presidential appointment as General Counsel to the U.S. Small Business Administration, in Washington, and then received a Presidential appointment, with Senate confirmation, as Solicitor (General Counsel) of the U.S. Department of the Interior. He is currently a member of the Colorado Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee, and has served on the Colorado State Treasurer’s Advisory Commission. He served as Chairman of the Colorado Legal Aid Foundation, was on the board of directors of The Children’s Hospital for 14 years, was on the board of directors of Rocky Mountain PBS for 8 years, served as Chairman of the Business Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, and continues to serve on the entities laws drafting committee. He has served as a member of the Executive Committee and Secretary of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on the board of the Holland & Hart Foundation. He is a member of the American Law Institute and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
Laurie’s volunteer service and community involvement in SD and AZ include Elementary and Middle School Enrichment Program Development, Parent Network and Superintendent Panels, American Cancer Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Women Against Violence, University of Arizona’s SALT (Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques), American Legion World Series and PEO. Her business background is in national insurance agency management. Other interests include travel, cooking, gardening and the arts. Laurie and her husband David have two children; Max and Alex. Laurie’s commitment to Craig began in 2005 when Alex was a tbi patient. Laurie is honored to be involved with Craig, the amazing staff and their inspirational patients and families.
Nan Hinton came to know Craig Hospital in 1990 when her 22 year old younger sister was in a diving accident and suffered a SCI. Nan has lived in Denver for 29 years. She has pursued a career in banking and currently holds the position of South Metro Market President for Community Banks of Colorado. Nan is a native of Wyoming. She is a graduate of Bowdoin College and Thunderbird. She has been married for 23 years and has 2 children in college.
Dr. Houser is Professor and Academic Dean of the Rueckert Hartman College for Health Professions at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. She holds BS and MS degrees in nursing, MS in healthcare administration, and PhD in applied statistics/ research methods. Before joining Regis University in 2000, she spent 20 years in health care administration with the Mercy Health System. She has over 30 publications in journals and books and presents at national and international conferences.
William N. Lindsay III, CLU, CEBS, RPA
Bill has an extensive background in health care and insurance. He was the Chair of Colorado’s Blue Ribbon Commission for Health Care Reform and has published and coauthored numerous articles and white papers on insurance, employee benefits, health care, and health care reform. He frequently serves as a speaker/panelist for national forums and has testified before Congress. Bill is currently the President of Lockton Benefit Group-Denver and has a B.A. Degree in Political Science.
Kevin Loughrey is currently Chairman and CEO of Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc. where he has overseen the activities of the Company since its acquisition in 2006, including successfully listing the Company on the New York Stock Exchange in 2007 and achieving record revenues of $1 billion in 2008. Previously, Mr. Loughrey was President, responsible for all the Company’s operations, and from 1998 to 2005, he was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, acting on behalf of shareholders as principal negotiator of the Thompson Creek acquisition. Collectively, Mr. Loughrey has over 30 years of experience in the mining industry in senior management positions. Mr. Loughrey is also actively involved in Rocky Mountain Honor Flight, a non-profit organization that gives WWII veterans the opportunity to visit the National WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.
Before her retirement in 2009, Betsy Mangone was vice president of the Philanthropic Services Group for The Denver Foundation. She was in the major gift and planned giving field for 26 years. During that time she served as vice president of the University of Colorado Foundation and as a national and international consultant to philanthropic families, colleges and universities and other nonprofit organizations. She is a founding member and past president of the National Committee on Planned Giving (now the Philanthropic Partnership), the national organization of gift planning professionals. She served as vice chair of the American Council on Gift Annuities, the national organization providing charitable gift annuity services to charities across the country. Betsy is an original author of the widely adopted Model Standards of Charitable Giving, which defines the ethics of planned giving professionals. She currently serves as an Advisor to the Aspen Institute. She also serves as a Director and Trustee of The University of Colorado Foundation and co-chairs its Development Committee; the Craig Hospital Foundation Board of Directors; The Center for Women’s Health Research Advisory Board where she serves as Chair and the Junior League of Denver Foundation Board of Trustees where she co-chairs the Planned Giving Committee. Betsy is an Honorary Trustee of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado where she continues to serve as an advisor on philanthropic topics. Betsy serves on American University’s School of Public Affairs Dean’s Advisory Council. She is an active member of The Denver Foundation’s Professional Advisor Committee and the Philanthropic Services Committee.
Daniel T. May
Mr. May joined Renal Ventures in 2007. Prior to this, Mr. May was Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration / Chief Financial Officer of the Denver Newspaper Agency and a Corporate Finance Partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Mr. May has extensive experience in financial management, mergers and acquisitions, financing and process control and development. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Executives Institute. Mr. May presently serves as a Director of Craig Hospital in Denver and the Downtown Denver Partnership.
Raymond A Mencini, MD, FACR
Dr. Mencini currently serves as the Medical Director of the St. Anthony Hospital Breast Center. Originally from Ohio, he relocated to Denver in 1984 and helped develop the field of Interventional Radiology, both at St. Anthony Hospitals, as well as locally and nationally. He has participated on extensive hospital boards and leadership positions by serving multiple terms as President of the Medical Staff of St. Anthony’s, and highlighted by being the Interim CEO of St. Anthony Hospital during its relocation to the new campus. He has been honored to be inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology. In addition to the honor of serving on the Board of Craig Hospital, Dr. Mencini is also a member of the Denver affiliate Komen Board of Trustees, and the Executive Committee of the Colorado Radiology Society. He and his wife, Gail, are the proud parents of four sons and now enjoy the greater excitement of two grandchildren.
Justin Moninger is a Software Development Manager for BIT Systems in Aurora, Colorado. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MS in Computer Science along with being a certified Project Management Professional. Justin is a Craig Hospital Alumni who spent 10 weeks as an inpatient at Craig after a spinal cord injury in 2005 that resulted in tetraplegia. He is an active volunteer and advocate for the SCI community.
Shelley Moses-Reed became involved with Craig in 2009 while a close, work colleague was a TBI patient. Shelley has 26 years in the high tech industry, specializing in building trusted relationships with customer executives, and helping their companies achieve results from information technology and business transformations. She most recently held the SVP role at Oracle Corporation, leading teams responsible for transforming the sales organization, improving customer relationships, and assimilating acquisitions. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and working with Craig Hospital and its Board.
Mike is the Director of Land for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation’s Rocky Mountain and Alaska region. Mike has been in the Oil and Gas business for 32 years. He is a native of Wyoming and a graduate of the University of Wyoming. Mike has 3 children, and a beautiful wife Marcia. He enjoys running, hiking, and fishing in his spare time. Mike is humbled to have the opportunity to be associated with such a fine organization that does so much.
Jason has over 15 years of business experience in training, marketing, speaking, nonprofit development and owns his own company, Spellbynder. He has earned a dual masters degree with an MBA and MS in Marketing from the University of Colorado. As a national speaker, Jason works with CAMPUSPEAK, a professional speaker agency providing keynote speakers to Universities across the country. He has represented Team USA in Wheelchair Rugby for the past 8 years.
Hugh L. Rice
Hugh L. Rice is Senior Chairman of FMI Corporation, an international consulting, research, and investment banking firm exclusively dedicated to the engineering and construction industry. He has spent 40 years at FMI functioning in various roles including CEO and Chairman until 2011. Hugh’s current activities include working on client acquisition transactions and serving on several construction industry firms’ Board of Directors or Advisory Boards. He also gives convention addresses on trends in the construction industry and participates in strategic planning engagements. Hugh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has been active in many organizations over the years, including the Institute of Management Consultants, Construction Financial Management Association, Associated General Contractors of America, The Moles (current Trustee) and The Beavers (past Director). He was awarded the Golden Beaver Award for Service and Supply in 2005 and elected to The National Academy of Construction in 2007. He currently serves on the Executive Advisory Board for the Daniels School of Business at the University of Denver.
Mary R. Sissel
Retired as a law firm Administrator, Mary is and has been an active community volunteer. Currently serves as Chair of the Craig Hospital Foundation and member of the Craig Hospital Board of Directors. Mary served as Chair of the Center for Women’s Health Research Advisory Board at the Anschutz Medical Campus, is past Chair of the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, past Chair of The Denver Foundation and former President of the Women’s Forum of Colorado. Mary served as chair of both the Ball State University Foundation in Indiana and Front Range Community College Foundation in Westminster. She currently serves on the CU Foundation Board of Trustees. Mary has also served as a Director of Girl Scouts of Colorado and as a Director and Officer of Rocky Mountain PBS.
Marilyn began her career in human resource management in California with Kaiser Industries. In 1979, she relocated to Tennessee where she spent nine years as the senior HR professional for the Tennessee Valley Authority. In 2001, she retired from her position as Vice President of Human Resources for Xcel Energy. Marilyn has served on numerous boards in Denver including the Denver Zoo, Women’s Foundation of Colorado, Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver and Rocky Mountain PBS. She currently serves on the boards of Delta Dental of Colorado and Craig Hospital.
Vandy Van Wagener
Vandy Van Wagener got involved with Craig via his son, David, who was an SCI patient in 2002. Vandy is Co-Founder of Evergreen Innovation Partners, a group specializing in searching out and catalyzing innovation in the consumer goods industry. His background in marketing and general management spans Procter & Gamble in the US and Asia plus several early stage companies in Colorado. Vandy’s other interests include other Boards, travel, golf, spinal cord research and philanthropy.
