Gray bulletEvaluation of longitudinal outcomes of surgery for spinal cord myelopathies to identify:

  1. the immediate effectiveness of spinal cord untethering and expansion duraplasty with or without cyst shunting in arresting progressive post-traumatic myelopathies;
  2. the long-term post-surgical neurological outcomes for people undergoing cyst shunting and/or untethering procedures;
  3. if the degree of post-surgical neurological improvement or persistent deterioration can be predicted by any of the following: a) extent of tethering; b) size of cyst; c) anatomical integrity of the spinal column; d) inability to adequately untether the spinal cord or restore the anatomical integrity of the spinal column' and
  4. the expected time to recurrence of neurological deterioration following surgical management of progressive post-traumatic myelopathies.
