Brain Injury ActivityInpatient

For persons with traumatic brain injury (TBI) at Craig Hospital, Inpatient Occupational Therapy focuses on helping people take care of themselves as much as they can, from being able to get dressed and eat on their own, to being able to live independently and be productive in the community. In addition, occupational therapy assesses and provides treatment for visual impairments, cognitive impairments, and arm function. Occupational therapists provide special expertise in building therapeutic daily routines and in adapting activities to help people participate in their life roles.

The Brain Injury Outpatient Occupational Therapy program focuses treatment on goals related to home, community, work, and school environments. To address these goals, treatment emphasizes daily routines, self care, community mobility, money management, and time management. The ultimate goal is to collaborate with the patient and family in order to maximize functional independence.
